Indoor/outdoor positioning care-tracking system

Needle care tracking combines outdoor satellite positioning with indoor wireless positioning to help nursing homes, day-care centers and nursing facilities keep track of residents, with wandering-risk and high-risk zone alerts configured to site rules.

Intended settings: Nursing homes, day-care centers, nursing facilities

Which areas do outdoor and indoor positioning each cover?

Outdoors, position comes from satellite positioning; indoors, wireless anchors track movement — together they cover the buildings and grounds. The goal is continuous location awareness as residents move between indoor and outdoor areas.

Outdoor and indoor positioning performance is affected by the site, obstructions, anchor placement and equipment conditions. Accuracy requirements, coverage and handover procedures are confirmed through site survey and acceptance.

How are wandering and high-risk zone alerts configured?

The facility defines tracking zones and alert rules to its care needs — for example entrances to watch or high-risk areas — and then arranges notification and on-duty response procedures.

Alerts give care staff a basis for response; actual notification methods, service hours and responsibilities for handling exceptions are confirmed during adoption assessment and acceptance.

What preparation does anchor installation need?

The Needle team carries out the site survey, placement and calibration, planning the layout by building structure, coverage needs and accuracy targets. Installation method, power and network requirements are assessed per site conditions.

One-time deployment, equipment configuration and ongoing maintenance scope are covered in the proposal; no commitments are made on fixed anchor counts or fixed accuracy without a survey.

FHIR + HIS integration service

Coming soon

The service is not yet available. It is planned to use FHIR as the data-exchange basis, linking care data with facility HIS (hospital information systems). Supported systems, data fields and timing will be announced separately.

Integration needs for access control and on-duty notifications can be reviewed during the site assessment — available interfaces, alert rules and responsibilities first — before scope is confirmed.

How are location privacy and permissions handled?

Location data is used for care purposes, with viewing permissions tiered by role. Tracking zones, alert rules and retention periods are set to the facility's needs.

The data-hosting environment, roles with access, retention periods and personal-data handling should be documented in writing during the adoption assessment and folded into facility governance.
